Client Name      University of Manchester on behalf of Department for Education and Skills (DfES)
Brief Description      This evaluation for DfES by the University of Manchester used both qualitative and quantitative data to assess the value of the pilot full-service extended schools.
Dates      January 2004 to June 2007
Location      England
Type      Cost benefit analysis
Overview

We worked with a team from the Universities of Manchester and Newcastle and provided expertise to undertake a cost-benefit analysis in selected case study schools.  Work included the identification of quantitative data to be collected in each school and the analysis of these data.  We worked closely with the pilot schools in order to obtain detailed information on the inputs and outcomes of extended schools.  The final report is available from the website for the new Department of Children Schools and Families.
