Developing and Using Labour Market Information in Croatia

This work was part of a larger project, undertaken by Arcadis BMB Management and financed by the European Commission to support labour market restructuring in Croatia.  Tecis Ltd was a sub-contractor in this work.  Ivy Papps worked with a group of labour market analysts of the Croatian Employment Service to address two issues:

(1) the development of labour market information from a variety of data sources to support the work of employment service advisers.

(2) the development of a survey of employers to provide ongoing information on skills needs.

This survey explored:

  • Their experience in recruiting the labour they require
  • Their skills requirements and attitudes to training and development of staff
  • Their expectations for the future

The report was intended to support the work of the Employment Service and of vocational educational and training providers with a view to making it more employer-centred, thus increasing the employability of the labour force in the medium term.
