Understanding the value of the social care, children’s and young people’s workforce

Skills for Care & Development is the Sector Skills Council responsible for coordinating skills development in the social care, children’s and young people’s workforce.  It wanted to develop a methodology to place an economic value on the activities of this workshop in order to be able to value improvements in skills as well as to raise the status of the sector by showing its contribution to overall value.  We reviewed three possible approaches to address this issue and facilitated a workshop to discuss them.  The recommendations in our report have formed the basis of ongoing work within the organisation.
